This role motivated me to return to work as I thoroughly enjoyed the rush of the bid/tender process. After volunteering for several months, I was asked to assist with a bid. We stripped it down, refocussed on the client's needs, and made it visual and common sense. HLS was instrumental in securing a large amount of funding for a disadvantaged area. Also, volunteered as an assistant to their group sessions on a course helping people move closer to returning to work. This involved liaising with the counselling psychologist, leading small groups, and mock interviews. Another activity involved working with a small team to arrange a Christmas fair for an underprivileged neighbourhood. Funding was minimal and creating a festive and interactive event was challenging and rewarding.

When I wasn't working on this project I assisted with marketing materials, ad agencies, arranging the parade and other local events.
