Profile bio

About María De Los Ángeles Lasa, Phd

🎓 With a background in International Relations (BA), Public Policy (MPP), and Political Science (PhD), I consider myself a Political (Data) Scientist. However, above all, I'm driven by an insatiable curiosity and a deep passion for storytelling.📊 This blend of training, curiosity, and passion has led me to the field of Data Science, where I assist governments, CSOs, and NGOs in conducting research, measuring impact, evaluating initiatives, and reporting findings.🤓 My academic journey has taken me through diverse areas of study, though one could argue that everything is interconnected. As a result, I consider myself both an expert in public policy analysis and evaluation, as well as North Korean affairs. In fact, I had the opportunity to visit Pyongyang in 2018, which inspired me to write a book about that experience titled "País de vinalón" (Fundación CADAL, 2024).👩🏻‍💻 As a Data Scientist, I've engaged in research, analysis, and visualization projects spanning media literacy, misinformation and disinformation, judicial protection of Venezuelan migrants, migrant integration, polarization, women's participation in politics, anti-vax movements, COVID-19, and sports for development (S4D).💪 I firmly believe in the power of small actions to create significant impact. One of my most fulfilling research projects, titled "El que domina, nomina", led to the modification of the municipal street naming ordinance in my city. As a result, more streets in Villa María (AR) now proudly bear the names of women.🚀 I've had the privilege of being a TEDxSpeaker twice. During my free time, I enjoy engaging in activities such as writing, hosting a podcast where I discuss space exploration during the Cold War, pursuing photography, playing the violin, and collecting Lego sets.🌎 As an avid traveler, I've been fortunate to explore over 50 countries, constantly fueling my wanderlust. While I currently call Buenos Aires home, my heart remains deeply connected to my beloved hometown of Villa María (AR), with a touch of nostalgia for my time spent in Oxford.

Listed skills include International Relations, Politics, Spanish, Research, and 25 others.
