Carson is just the eighth such fellow named from among more than 3,600 applicants since 2008 for the program that aims to select innovative education ideas from anywhere in the world and develop them in Indianapolis. The two-year fellowship will pay her a salary and provide support as she crafts her idea — a Spanish immersion charter school — into a plan. The total value of the fellowship is $250,000.As a teacher, Carson won a $25,000 Milken Educator Award.
