Akhbarek – meaning “your news” in the Arabic feminine – is an online media outlet geared towards young Arab women, and written in the Arabic language. In a region dominated by the dismissive framing of women issues, Akhbarek looks to offer compelling digital content and stories about women, and for women. Launched in 2015, Akhbarek seeks to create a new narrative that speaks to young Arab women directly, and addresses the real issues they face ranging from unemployment, laws and rights, to the impact of social conservatism, climate change, and current events.The organization’s mission is to become the primary digital source of information for young Arab women, authoring a new narrative by developing engaging original content and educative materials that defy conventional norms, with the vision of yielding a better informed, engaged, and ultimately empowered generation of women in the region that can inspire a permanent cognitive shift in how they are perceived, and how they perceive themselves.Tasks include:• Develop Akhbarek’s digital content strategy, revenue-generating model, and regional audience development.• Lead an international team of writers and designers and supervising the daily content production.• Create, produce, and manage high-quality content.• Proofread and edit material.

Tatawor is a non-profit organization specialized in development of youth by organizing activities related to their growth with different NGOs around the Middle East, North Africa and Europe.• Managed European Commission funded projects, Free to Work (2005-2008), which focused on women’s rights and economic empowerment in Jordan, the West Bank and Gaza. Citizen in my City (2008-2010) a community based project that aimed at creating a change in the governance mode and decision making mechanisms in different local communities. in addition to Bint Balad (2013- 2015), a community based project that is financed by the EC and that aimed at empowering women through creating economic opportunities.• Helped design and execute gender equality and social inequality awareness campaigns, targeting women groups and governmental and non-governmental organizations in the Mediterranean area.• Assisted in developing youth volunteer engagement programs in both London and Amman. • Managed operations of the NGO, including financial, administrative and programmatic procedures and compliance of donor and agreements.• Provided ongoing supervision, leadership, support, guidance and mentorship to the different teams that worked on the program.

7iber (hiber, or ‘ink’) is an award winning, Jordan-centric online magazine. This project developed out of a need to engage young Jordanian citizens in current events and community affairs by reinforcing their role in the public sphere. I joint 7iber as a partner, in its seed and development, I saw it through its startup phase, and managed operations until the company moved to its stage of growth and establishment.• Headed operations at Hiber during its startup phase.• Moderated the Hashtag Debates, a public forum that aimed to create live debates around current hot issues during the advent of the 2011 Arab Spring.• Managed accounts and projects in addition to digital media training workshops for local communities. This includes training British Council Global Change-makers to cover the World Economic Forum (2009 and 2010), Web2.0 training programs for women communities, professional journalists, corporations and university students.
