Psychosocial Rehabilitation is designed to assist participants with compensating for or eliminating functional deficits and interpersonal or environmental barriers associated with their mental illness. Activities must be intended to achieve the identified goals or objectives as set within a participant’s individualized treatment plan. The intent of PR is to restore an individual's integration of the participant as an active and productive member of his or her family, community or culture with minimal professional intervention. Psychosocial Rehabilitation is a face-to-face intervention with the participant present. Services may be provided individually or in a group setting.

Assists in administration of medications and treatments, takes vital signs, collects blood and other bodily fluids, as directed by a physician or nurse. Bathes, grooms, shaves and dresses clients who need help. Conduct activities for recreation and socialization among patients on the floor. Ensure safety and security of patients. Feeds clients who are unable to feed themselves. Observes and documents patient data, behavior and activity every half hour. Prepares clients for treatment or examination. Provides client care by supplying and emptying bedpans, applying dressings and supervising exercise routines. Provides clients with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed. Provides subprofessional occupational or physical therapy services to physically or developmentally disabled patients . Transports or accompany patients to treatment units, using a wheelchair or stretcher. Turns and re-positions bedridden clients, alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores.
