Anew is the only charity in Ireland that provides specialised practical and emotional support to pregnant women and new mothers, experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We nurture and empower the women through their pregnancy, early parenthood and help them to find homes. We provide practical help around accommodation, food, baby supplies and hygiene products. We also provide emotional support at this crucial time in their lives by key working and holistic interventions. The work we do has long term impacts for their lives and is instrumental in breaking intergenerational cycles of poverty and inequality.In our Cottage in Swords, we provide intensive key working in areas such as emotional and mental wellbeing, physical health, looking after baby, relationships, housing and essentials and support network. In our Day Centre in Dublin City we offer a Housing Advice and Support Service, peer to peer support, Life Skills classes such as budgeting, tenancy sustainment, and parenting support.As a collaborative leader, I work with the board, staff, volunteers, funders and the women who use our service. My role connects all elements of the organisation into a cohesive, compliant and effective service for the women and babies who need it. Service delivery is high standard and outcome focused. Working in closely with the CEO and based in Head Office My role involved overseeing the operation of three centres with the following responsibilities:• Leadership, management and development of senior staff• Financial management – management of budgets, funding applications and proposals• Implementation of the Governance Code• Coordination of Risk Management systems• Closely involved in Strategic Planning for the organisation• Ensuring compliance to the large array of regulations within the charity sector

Outside of my day job I am part of a panel in Carmichael where I share my knowledge and experience through the provision of training and consultancy in the areas of good governance, risk and strategy in the not for profit sector.

Working with the Nomination Committee, conducting annual skills gap analysis, training needs analysis and training plans for board/volunteers. Other elements include delivering, organising, monitoring and recording on-going training, team building and development for directors and volunteers.
