I started my career as a 911 dispatcher in Colorado Springs. Later I moved to Aurora Colorado where I furthered my experience with Aurora Police and Fire Communications. I progressed to supervisor and oversaw the Emergency Medical Dispatch program. Then I was hired at South Metro Fire where I helped start up the METCOM dispatch center. I assisted in the record-timing of opening the center in 6 months time. This was one of my proudest moments in my career as I was part of the startup of the first communications center for South Metro Fire Department. Even though I was hired as a supervisor, I held the role of interim manager for approximately one year. This was an exciting challange as my previous experience came into play with operations of a communications center. However, my real passion lies with patient care. I left the dispatcher field to pursue medical education. I ended up as an emergency medical technician, working in an emergency room for over 13 years.
