Mariana Cabeça is a Linguistic Engineer at Unbabel. Colleagues describe them as "I had the pleasure to work with Mariana for two years at Unbabel. First, I was her co-supervisor during her MA thesis internship at Unbabel and after this, I was her manager for one year there. Mariana is one of the people that impressed me the most, she’s work driven and with a very analytical eye. She was the first computational linguist in our team and she brought extreme value with her background in linguistics and coding. Mariana worked on a variety of projects such as automatic grammar error detection, machine translation metrics, human quality evaluation of machine translation, methodology to automatically test MT errors, prompt engineering and automatic localization. During these two years she published two papers as first author on these topics and I was mind blown by the quality of her work in all these different topics. I believe Mariana is an extremely valuable asset, especially when it comes to AI and measuring quality. I was very proud to be her mentor and her manager and I highly recommend her."
