Ms. Alicea boasts over ten years as a coastal engineer, excelling in coastal flood studies, mitigation planning, climate change vulnerability analysis, sediment transport modeling, and saltwater intrusion studies. She is highly skilled in software tools like ArcGIS Pro, Python, R, and MATLAB, and seamlessly integrates her technical knowledge into her projects. Known for her teaching and mentoring skills, she brings academic instructional experience to her projects. Her stint at the University of Miami's Alfred C. Glassell, Jr. SUSTAIN Laboratory has honed her research abilities, especially in the stability analysis of hybrid reef systems. Having worked with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) San Francisco and Jacksonville districts, Ms. Alicea contributed immensely to coastal planning projects, showcasing her proficiency in contract specifications, sediment analyses, and public engagement. While at CDM Smith, Ms. Alicea worked as a Coastal Technical Specialist for the FEMA Building Science Branch and served as a subject matter expert for FEMA HMTAP projects and FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities Direct Technical Assistance (BRIC DTA) Coastal communities. She has advanced degrees from Virginia Polytechnic & State University and a Graduate Coastal Engineering Certificate from Old Dominion University. Ms. Alicea is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Ocean Sciences at the University of Miami and is a licensed Professional Engineer.
