Based in London/South East, I worked as an actor in touring theatre in the UK/continental Europe, and as a director of youth and applied theatre projects (including 3 years directing/devising/writing theatre with young people at Theatre Royal Winchester; drama advocacy work with Winchester social services, and directing plays in Feltham Young Offenders Institution and Winchester prison). During this period I worked as a VL/Workshop director at Central School of Speech and Drama; Rose Bruford College; and Royal Holloway, University of London. My teaching and research focuses on acting/embodied knowledge, devising practices (solo/company) and feminisms and theatre. I'm committed to facilitating and empowering students to develop and structure their own work.Directing projects at The University of Winchester include: Kane's 'Crave' (Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2003, 3,4&5 star reviews); 'Alone Among Mortals' (2009); 'Failing Chekhov' (2010); David Greig's 'San Diego' (2010); 'And Yet it Moves' (2011); Aqua Vitae (2013); 'If Looks Could Kill' (2014-15); 'Pots, Pans and Protests' (2015-16); The Earth Fugue (2016-17); Elinor Cook's, 'Image of an Unknown Young Woman' (2022). ACE funded projects include directorial collaboration with Anna Fenemore/Pigeon Theatre, on 'The Twice-Removed' (UK tour 2012). From 2011, I travelled often to Los Angeles to research/train with Rachel Rosenthal and her Extreme Theater Ensemble, who create improvised 'total theatre' performances called 'TOHUBOHU!' My engagement with Rosenthal's body of work is on-going. I directed Wertenbaker's 'Our Country's Good' in HMP Winchester (2013, Playing for Time Theatre; cast of prisoners and students; funding: Arts Council England, John Paul Getty Jnr Trust) and performed in 'Shift', by Doug Hammett, at Nye+Brown gallery, Los Angeles. 'Nora and I' (2014) my ACE funded autobiographical show, was performed in the UK and Los Angeles at ESPACE DBD. In 2019, I became an Authorised Continuum Movement Teacher.
