In February 2022, I joined the Sighetu Marmatiei Border with Ukraine as a Legal Counselor, where I worked closely with key stakeholders to implement one of the most comprehensive programs for the welfare of immigrants, the BlueDOT. Camp CounselorRomanian National Council For Refugees Feb 2022 - Mar 2022Şomcuta Mare, Maramureş, RomaniaAs a camp counselor for the "Advocacy for access to territory, child protection and refugee integration in Romania" project funded by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees - UNHCR Romani, my primary responsibilities included:Collecting information on protection concerns and challenges faced by asylum seekers and refugees hosted in the Reception Center through daily questionnaires on the RC population of concern and entering the data collected from each person of concern in an online integrated system.Maintaining up-to-date information on the RC population of concern at all times, including their profiles (nationality, age and gender, travel routes, asylum procedure status, plans and intentions, skills and capacities, etc.).Providing complementary counseling related to the asylum procedure to the assistance provided through other projects when needed and referring vulnerable cases to other staff members within or outside the project for appropriate assistance and support.Referring cases of Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC) in need of support/counseling to the Child Protection (CP) Counselor.Identifying strategic cases in need of legal aid, mainly cases that present a strategic interest and whose decisions could feed into further advocacy interventions, and referring them to the Protection Officer for clearance and receipt of specialized legal support.Drafting reports and updates, weekly/monthly and upon request.In addition to these responsibilities, I also worked closely with other staff members to advocate for access to territory, child protection, and refugee integration in Romania.
