Als hoofddocent op de thema's Taal en Burgerschap in onze meertalige samenleving, richt ik me op het versterken van deze thematiek in de opleidingen van het Instituut voor Onderwijs en Orthopedagogiek (pabo, MEN, post-hbo). Momenteel ben ik als projectleider verantwoordelijk voor de curriculumherziening van de pabo. Bij al mijn taken probeer ik inzichten uit onderzoek te verbinden aan ontwikkeling van de opleidingen en samen met onderwijsprofessionals te vertalen naar toepassingen voor de onderwijspraktijk in met name het primair onderwijs.

Als senior onderzoeker binnen het lectoraat Meertaligheid en Onderwijs vervul ik een verbindende rol tussen het onderzoek van het lectoraat en de doorwerking daarvan naar de opleiding van het Instituut voor Onderwijs en Orthopedagogiek. Dit doe ik met name rond de thema's inclusieve vakdidactiek en onderwijs aan nieuwkomers.

Responsible for the organization and realization of the professional master's program on learning and innovation. Together with the academic director, I initiated continuous improvement of the curriculum and our strategy to contribute to sustainable development of teachers and schools.

Supervising two Research & Design groups on stimulating factors for flow in learning by pupils, students and teachers.

Teaching courses on language education, practice-oriented research, and critical thinking in the Masters Special Educational Needs (SEN), Educational Leadership (MEL), and Learning and Innovation (MLI). Part of the curriculum development team on Language Development for the master SEN.

Both organizational and content-wise coordination of all practice-oriented research in the master SEN (location Utrecht).

Executing psycholinguistic experiments with Dutch infants to trace their sensitivity to co-occurence patterns in the input language and their use of these patterns for categorization of words. Collaboration with dr. Elise de Bree and dr. Annemarie Kerkhoff (Utrecht University).

Research project on first language acquisition of Dutch, resulting in my dissertation entitled 'Learning to categorize verbs and nouns: studies on Dutch', defended on 3 July 2009.

Teaching duties in the BA-program Dutch language and culture (academic skills).

Teaching Dutch language and literature to highschool students (2nd - 4th grade).

Responsible for both the contentwise and organizational succes of summer academy on a variety of topics regarding religion/belief, science and society.
