Drawing on over 20 years of experience as a reporter, manager, and entrepreneur, I currently serve as Deputy Managing Editor and international correspondent at elDiario.es, an independent and profitable news outlet in Spain. Additionally, I write pieces as a contributor to The Guardian Opinion section, specializing in analysis of Spain and Europe.Previously, I worked as a correspondent in New York, Brussels and Milan for El Mundo, a daily newspaper, and as a senior political reporter in the U.S. for Univision. I covered four Presidential campaigns, multiple European elections and the eurozone crisis. My work has also appeared at The Atlantic, Nieman Reports, and The Washington Post. I co-founded two startups in Spain, El Español and Politibot. I was a Nieman fellow at Harvard (2017-2018). I studied at the MIT how technology can help us fight polarization. At Harvard Business School I studied new markers. I was also into Presidential History and economic growth, Chinese philosophy, leadership, Music History, and non-fiction writing.I have worked as a mentor for other news organizations, and I have experience in teaching at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics and the CNN Academy-Loyola University Journalism Master in Seville.My latest book is 'El periódico' (Debate, Penguin-Random House, 2022) explores the digital revolution in newsrooms in the last two decades, a nostalgic yet optimistic essay with the tone of a memoir.I was born and raised in Spain, but I studied in the Liceo Italiano of Madrid. I graduated with a Master of Science in Journalism at Columbia University in New York on a Fulbright scholarship, and studied international institutions at the London School of Economics. I speak Spanish, Italian, English, and some French. I have worked in Milan, London, Brussels, New York, and Chicago. I am currently based in Madrid and Oxford, England.
