I have over 25 years of experience in the tertiary education sector, teaching humanities, multimedia arts, modern and contemporary art, Philippine art, culture, and society. Currently, I am the Dean of the School of New Media Arts at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. Since January 2019, I have also served as an accreditor for Higher Education Institutions under the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU) for the Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Design programs.Throughout my career, I have participated in various national and international projects with Higher Education Institutions and organizations, including the Australia-ASEAN Council and Griffith University for the "Regionally Speaking – Cultural Advocacy, Leadership, and Diplomacy" initiative. I have also collaborated with the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), the Bangkok International Performing Arts Meeting (BIPAM), the European Network on Cultural Management and Policy Congress (ENCATC), and the Europe-Asia Roundtable Sessions (EARS) in Mumbai, among others. In 2009, I was honored as a Visiting Fellow by the National Endowment for the Arts and the U.S. State Department at the International Arts Journalism Institute in Visual Arts—an intensive, postgraduate-level academic program with integrated study tours designed to deepen the understanding of American society, culture, and institutions among foreign university faculty. In January 2020, I received the Commission on Higher Education Professional Advancement Grant to attend the "Crisis Leadership in Higher Education" program at Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education.I have contributed to the research and documentation of the 2016 and 2022 National Living Treasures Awards, or the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA), under The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). This is the highest honor given by the State to Filipino traditional artists whose creative endeavors help preserve and promote our indigenous cultural heritage. In 2012, I served as a facilitator and rapporteur for the ASEAN-China Joint Cooperation Committee and National Commission for Culture and Arts Forum, which focused on the plight of traditional weavers in Southeast Asia.Before joining De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, I was a junior faculty member at the College of Arts and Letters, University of the Philippines, Diliman. There, I taught various courses in the Department of Art Studies, including Art and Society, Art History, Folk Art, Human Image in the Arts, and Philippine Traditional Arts.
