I am a dedicated, enthusiastic and driven nurse working as a full time Team Lead Charge Nurse at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. This new career pathway started in May of 2024 and I am pleased to help establish the new medical/oncology unit.Prior to the new position, I worked as a bedside nurse on the orthopedic/surgical unit at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. The decision to leave this unit was difficult but it was time to grow in my nursing career. For the previous 5 years, I spent my career at Barnes Jewish Hospital BJH in three different roles on the same nursing floor(144/14500). I worked as a Student Nurse Technician at first and transitioned into a Graduate Nurse after finishing my Bachelor's degree at UMSL in December of 2018. I passed the NCLEX-RN licensure exam on the first attempt in February of 2019, making me officially a Registered Nurse! During my first year as a nurse, I completed the Nurse Residency Program at Barnes Jewish Hospital. On my 1 year anniversary of being a nurse, I was welcomed into Pandemic Nursing, where everyone stayed home and we continued to work. It was an eerie and eye opening experience, that was made possible by an amazing nursing team. The 5 years I spent at BJH were filled with new experiences, daily learning, necessary changes, team work, process improvements, volunteer work, charge nurse role, precepting newer nurses, working alongside International travel nurses, and warmly welcoming all new employees that made up our team. The experience built the foundation of my nursing career.
