As Expert in Residence I am involved in the collaborative design, delivery and evaluation of the school's Certificate in Education Entrepreneurship & Innovation program.

Navitas L&T provides services, strategic advice & connected L&T leadership across Navitas globally. We support and encourage innovation in learning and teaching, including the integration of technology, contemporary learning design, and holistic approaches to the student experience.

Working across various academic colleges and business units, Maria provided leadership, advice, consulting and services in: learning and business technologies and systems; educational design and innovation; teaching capability &professional development, and organisational transformation and change. Maria has responsibility for CADRE, Navitas' e-Learning solutions arm, which provides custom e-Learning and social learning solutions to corporate, government and internal clients.

Maria was responsible for eLearning development including transformation to a technology enabled student experience. Maria oversaw the implementation of an integrated, technology driven student administration system, student portal and suite of eLearning functionality, such as LMS, lecture capture, synchronous web conferencing, text-matching software, and online student learning support. These initiatives allowed the College to achieve scalable growth, while maintaining quality standards.Maria oversaw large organisational change management activities and capability development programs within the College.

Responsible for all aspects of training and development for this professional body. Acheivements: implemented a quality assurance framework, including curriculum evaluation system, facilitator recruitment and selection process, curriculum review and renewal structure and standardised reporting on specific quality measures; Restructured curriculum to align with competency framework and implemented computer based testing for the Certification Program in Australia.

Maria’s role at this offshore university, being established by UNSW at the invitation of the Singapore Government, was to establish systems and structures that supported the university’s culture and quality expectations across most core functions including curriculum, learning and teaching and staff development. Maria designed the organisation’s planning and accountability framework and staff performance management system. She set up the learning and teaching function and managed the teaching technologies strategy. Maria also designed the staff induction and student orientation programs, was responsible for the corporate website and student portal.

In this role, Maria was responsible for the Education Quality portfolio and oversaw the development of the Faculty’s 2002-2005 strategic planning process and facilitated the creation and implementation of a new postgraduate curriculum. She also developed a robust planning, reporting and improvement process in curriculum, learning and teaching across the Faculty.As head of the Faculty’s Education Development Unit, Maria oversaw the establishment of academic staff professional development, peer observation and mentoring, and tutor training programs. She developed teaching awards and grants schemes and worked with many academic staff on learning and teaching projects, grant submissions and promotion applications.

In this position, Maria held overall accountability for the integrity and quality of the students’ learning experience, including innovation in, and coordination across, all aspects (structure, content, delivery) of the Program. During this time, Maria implemented a quality assurance framework for the curriculum, developed a systematic selection, induction, professional development and performance review system for 200 adjunct faculty, and successfully implemented the Schools first on-line degree program. Maria also managed a large scale customised program for the Hong Kong Civil Service and re-developed and re-launched an MBA Program in Hong Kong.
