The project aimed at gaining increased knowledge of the role of and synergy between critical components of the different cellular adhesion complexes.Synthetic nanostructured surfaces were developed using the technique block-copolymer micelle lithography. Via biofunctionalization of the surfaces, they mimic the native cell environment with extracellular matrix proteins and fluid lipid membranes. These surfaces were further used to steer the clustering of cell adhesion molecules and hence, the ability of a cell to adhere and migrate at the biomimetic surfaces.
