This Unit focuses on and funds projects (under Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe) that aim at securing the society against disasters; fighting crime and terrorism through new technologies and capabilities (including Artificial Intelligence based technologies) for fighting and preventing crime (including cyber-crime), illegal trafficking and terrorism (including cyber-terrorism); security policies in civilian tasks, ranging from civil protection to humanitarian relief, border management or peace-keeping and post-crisis stabilization.Main tasks:▪ Supported the work of the Unit in managing its portfolio of projects in the Security domain under Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.▪ Researched and analysed data and journalistic inquiries on sensitive projects in the field of Civil Security, health security, food security, Resilience, Innovation, Disaster prevention and Counterterrorism.▪ Produced Reports, Papers and Briefs and policy background material on various security topics, including EU security projects' public opinion.▪ Screened REA.B.4-managed projects for those with high communication potential.▪ Drafted content aimed at a broader public, such as the REA news alerts or posts on corporate social-media channels. Shelter City (https://sheltercity.nl/en/) is a global and nationwide initiative, powered in the Netherlands by Justice and Peace Netherlands (https://www.justiceandpeace.nl/) to protect human rights defenders, in cooperation with a growing number of Dutch cities and local organizations. If human rights defenders are being threatened because of the work they do, they qualify for a stay of three months in one of the Dutch Shelter Cities: Amsterdam, The Hague, Groningen, Haarlem, Maastricht, Utrecht, Nijmegen, Middelburg, Zwolle, Tilburg and Deventer. The eleven Shelter Cities offer temporary shelter, training and safety to international human rights defenders such as journalists, community leaders, lawyers, artists and academics who fight against human rights violations in their home countries. Main tasks:▪ Supported the activities of the Programme ▪ Assisted and managed daily life, Interviews, meetings and activities of a Georgian LGBTIQ Human Rights Defender guest of the ShelterCity Programme from the Georgian humanitarian Organization "Women's Initiatives Supporting Group" (WISG).▪ Acquired further knowledge on the situation of human and civil rights in Georgia, as well as on that in the countries of the European Neighbourhood Policy (specifically Turkey, Armenia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan & Belarus)

During the traineeship at the Territorial Commission, it has been dispatched the following tasks: preparation and drafting of notes on specific cases of asylum seekers- analysis and drafting of memoirs for the Commission of complex cases of asylum seekers and refugees whose request for asylum or international protection has been rejected- precise researches, under clear guidelines of the tutor (President of the Commission, Mrs. Dabbicco) on institutional and internationally recognised websites, of information on Countries of Origin of asylum seekers and refugees and of official reports on dangerous and unstable situations in those countries- drafting of official decrees of rejection of international protection - organization of paper and online documentation; writing and registering of letters and official acts of the Office for the disputes of the Commission- participation to the auditions of asylum seekers and refugees and support to the U.N.H.C.R. representatives and to refugees and interpreters and mediators of the Commission.Territorial Commissions are bodies of the Italian Government, managed by the Home Office of Italy, headed by an Official of the Prefectural career ( as Deputy Prefect), consist of an Official of the National Police Department, a representative of the Territorial Body and a representative of U.N.H.C.R. (High Commissioner of United Nations for refugees).
