I was born in Cuenca (Spain) and after studying music in Seville I moved to the Netherlands to continue my studies with Paul Leenhouts at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (MMus 2006). I also studied Musicology at the University of Amsterdam (MA cum laude 2009). Consort music (early and new) is my main field of specialisation as a performer. I have been a member of The Royal Wind Music since 2001 and since 2010 I am one of the artistic directors of the ensemble. I also co-founded trio ÆroDynamic (voice and two recorders, active 2004-2016) and Seldom Sene Recorder Quintet, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2019. With these ensembles I have toured a lot in Europe and recorded 14 to date albums for Lindoro, Brilliant Classics and Pan Classics. I also collaborate with Period ensembles as a freelancer for chamber music and orchestral projects - among them Música Temprana (NL), Ensemble Odyssee (NL) and La Grande Chapelle (Spain). Recently I have also shared the stage with Israel Golani (lute and guitar) for concerts in the Netherlands and with harpsichordist Silvia Márquez Chulilla in Spain. In July 2012 I was appointed Recorder Consort Professor at the Royal College of Music in London. Since 2015 I also coach the recorder students individually on early repertoire. I am also connected to the recorder department of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where I teach historical development of the recorder and early recorder consort. I've taught courses and masterclasses in the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Austria, the UK and Australia. Besides teaching and performing, I am chief editor of 'blokfluitist', the only specialised recorder magazine in Dutch. I am also co-initiator and manager of the Open Recorder Days Amsterdam, a biennial four-day international festival and competition that was held for the fourth time in October 2019.
