Global tax strategy and structure planning

Key member of the tax team, serving the Company as a source of tax expertise and overseeing all global tax matters. Currently working in close partnership with other senior tax team members and senior finance personnel to ensure that the Company’s tax accounting and financial reporting is accurately reported in accordance with FAS109 and FIN48. Direct supervisor to four employees worldwide. Responsibilities include financial reporting; directing foreign subsidiary tax functions to ensure compliance with international tax regulations; supervising transfer pricing function and planning, developing and implementing strategies to optimize the company’s tax position. Since joining the Company, led team in the integration of several recently acquired European businesses, coordinated the implementation of a Canadian reorganization resulting in a tax provision benefit and cash savings in excess of USD 500K and implemented a multi country restructuring that will save the company approximately USD 2.2 million in annual tax savings and reduce the global effective tax rate by 1 to 2 points.

Directed financial tax reporting, international tax policy, tax planning and compliance activities in the United States and 32 countries. Responsibilities included reporting foreign and domestic components of the Company’s quarterly and year-end tax provision in accordance with FAS109 and FIN48; directing foreign subsidiary tax functions; collaborating with colleagues to identify and resolve tax issues arising in the course of business and implementing tax strategies to achieve P&L benefit and cash tax savings.

Advisor to various domestic and foreign based companies regarding international and domestic tax issues. Specialty areas included global intangibles planning, tax efficient debt structuring and general planning for mergers, acquisition and disposition of companies and/or business units. Developed and implemented global tax strategies for emerging and established companies, with an emphasis on technology and biotechnology companies.
