I can help you and your team research relevant issues; develop policy handles, legislative agendas, and political strategies; and push for significant change that can make a difference for real people.I have over a decade of professional direct and indirect advocacy experience, lobbying for policy change, researching and writing reports, and working to improve people’s lives. I’ve spent nearly half of my career at nonprofit institutions. I also have experience working at think tanks, boutique policy firms, and small businesses. My legal training (JD) and certification in Law & Public Policy from Catholic University Columbus School of Law has also been useful in my work pushing for policy change and grassroots organizing. I’ve been an advocate since I was 12 years old following my athlete cousin around at her Special Olympics meets. Since then, I’ve seen first-hand how the criminal justice system fails victims, particularly those who suffer domestic violence or whose first language isn’t English. I’ve worked closely with patients who have been failed by the US health care system - whether through predatory or careless billing, or systems that bounce patients around for hours, weeks, or even months to get an answer about their care.
