I launched my first start-up Modern Twist- Handcrafted Churros while attending California State University, Fresno. I am working on The Real Monthly Box, a new method of introducing biological changes to girls ages 6 to 17.Current board member for Cyber Valley Coastal Kiwanis, a nonprofit organization that focuses on helping our communities flourish. We provide scholarships to high school students, raise money for charities such as Salvation Army, Relay for Life, Alzheimer's and many others. In order to have an idea of when it was a correct age to introduce the “The Real Monthly Box”, I decided to ask my friends and family when they started their menstrual cycle. To my surprise they did not only share the age they started, but also shared with me how the menstrual cycle was introduced to them. During my questioning with friends and family, I realized that I had to do more research about the menstrual cycle. I found out that one of my cousin’s had started her menstrual cycle at the age of seven. So my aunt explained to me how she thought my cousin was having internal bleeding and her first action was to take her to Valley Children’s Hospital. After my cousin had testing done on her the doctor’s explain to my aunt that my cousin had started her menstrual cycle. I asked my aunt if the hospital had provided any type of resources to her and she said nothing was provided. My aunt told me that the nurse suggested to give my cousin a journal to write down any notes would be the best way for my cousin to express herself. This is why I am working towards creating a non-profit towards this cause. In 2017, I conducted Sensory Consumer Testing for Modern Twist, through a collaboration among The Jordan Agricultural Research Center and The Food Science & Nutrition Department and Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. My team and I were able to recruit 254 participates to taste churro ice cream sandwiches. In April 2019, I was selected to participate in the Draper Competition for Collegiate Women Entrepreneurs at Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts. Previously worked as an account executive for the Collegian, the Fresno State Student Newspaper.
