I apply skills acquired as a global brand strategist, CMO, and creative director/producer to support fast-growing, southeastern-based brands. My specialty working with brands like Intercontinental Hotel Group, Motorola, Home Depot, Wild American Shrimp, PBS Kids, Cingular Wireless (now AT&T), Mrs. Smith's Bakeries, and XM Radio has been the ability to launch new products, services, and technology where no roadmap exists. For example, I led the creation of the brand and marketing blueprint to roll out the first "branded boutique" hotel concept, Hotel Indigo, for IHG. We had to research and envision how this new concept, with just six locations, could evolve and resonate with frequent travelers in different markets around the world looking for a better, affordable travel experience. Our insight is that the hotels should reflect the neighborhoods in which they are located, from their design to the customer experience. Providing an affordable stay for travelers who want more of an experience and a "less vanilla" atmosphere than the other hotels in its price level. Today, over 15 years later, that strategy is still at the heart of the brand, which now has 149 locations around the world. At the same time, we discovered an entirely new market segment that every major hotel group now competes in.
