I am passionate about writing and blogging. It has been a journey with my writing that has developed into a blogging career--"thisisyourbestyear". I was honored in Fort Worth Magazine (June, 2015) as the readers choice for "best blogger". I was first given an opportunity to write professionally by my Zeta Phi Beta Sorority sister, Jill Darden who is the owner and editor of the Fort Worth Black News. At the time I was the Career and Technology Coordinator at O. D. Wyatt High School in Fort Worth, TX. We came to the conclusion that our parents would read the Fort Worth Black News before they would read the local newspaper. We decided to do a monthly column about the things that were going on in the Fort Worth Independent School District. Thus began a relationship that has grown and is still going strong today. I am still writing for the Fort Worth Black News and enjoying it.This opportunity led me to the Longview News Journal where I would be allowed to write a monthly column about life in Longview. This led to articles being published in other East Texas newspapers including the Tyler Telegraph. I have also been published in the USA Today and the TCC Writes.The writing led me into the speaking arena. My first paid speaking engagement was at Jarvis Christian College, and I still have the money that I was paid. I have spoken at churches, girls clubs (AWOW), schools, book clubs and more.As a result of the speaking I began to get books to review, and also to edit. Hopefully my last book written by Sharon Williams will be made into a movie. I've been able to cover and blog about many women of a certain age including Robin Roberts, former First Lady Laura Bush, Condoleezza Rice, Oprah and others. I've informed my readers about health clinics, free mammograms, fitness routines, art exhibits, faith and more.
