Crisis Lines Support Specialist/Dcfs Intake
Via the general crisis hotline, provide immediate crisis intervention, suicide prevention, support for individuals struggling with mental health, addiction, domestic violence, relationship issues, or any other help requested. Previously via Nevada 211 (now being handled through another organization), provided information and referrals to other services and organizations.Since October 2013, through a contract with the Nevada Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS), have written reports of child abuse and neglect as acquired by telephone and facsimile, entering the information into the statewide Unity database, and notifying the appropriate satellite office supervisor for review and disposition of the report. Calls include handling complaints against DCFS, crisis intervention for distressed family members, and referrals to helpful resources such as legal services, family resource centers, family counseling, and government assistance. Additional responsibilities include entry of demographic data into an Excel spreadsheet for dissemination to grantors and DCFS supervisors, establishing and maintaining a filing system for hard copies of the reports, writing guides and conducting training regarding completing reports for general Crisis Call Center staff and volunteers as well as for training coworkers in the use of Unity, writing the monthly newsletter, and side projects such as writing grant applications as needed. Job requires use of multi-line telephone, typing over 100 WPM, extensive filing, and the use of: the CCC internal database, DCFS Unity database, Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel, fax machine, and photocopier.
