I was part of the team that secured Reprezent's FM licence. I oversaw the shows broadcast on the station as well as being responsible for two of Eclectic Productions’ largest accredited projects; Sounding Out and Off The Streetz. This involved engaging, training and motivating over 150 at risk young people as Presenters, Producers, Scriptwriters and Journalists at Reprezent, an online youth radio station in Peckham (www.reprezent.org.uk). They produced programmes and drama about specific issues, such as domestic violence and teenage pregnancy. I coordinated partnerships with schools, youth clubs, grassroot organisations, charities, local authorities and campaigners.

I was honoured to be invited to teach on the FdA Radio Production course at the College. It was my role to deliver the Work Based Learning and Professional Development units for Level C and I. This involved weekly lectures as well as setting and marking a number of written and verbal assignments.

I was a contracted Freelance Broadcast Journalist for Global Radio and worked at the stations along the south coast, most frequently for Heart Dorset in Bournemouth. It was important that I maintained a detailed knowledge of the most current international, national and local news events, as well as ensuring my legal knowledge was up-to-date. My role included researching, writing, recording and presenting hourly bulletins for the specific radio station. I was also required to ensure the news pages of the station's website were kept updated.

Alongside freelancing I also lectured on the Radio Journalism units for BA (Hons) Multi-Media Journalism and BA (Hons) Communications and Media at Bournemouth University. Overall I taught six classes of first and final year students. The units included writing, structuring and gathering news, law and ethics, voice training, an overview of Radio Journalism, recording interviews and editing. By the end of the courses each student produced a three minute news package, three news bulletins for different stations, and a production analysis of their work. I designed the marking structure to fall within the guidelines of the university.

I researched, wrote, edited and presented daily news bulletins during the Breakfast Show. I also gathered and presented a fifteen minute news programme every morning. I was able to develop my management skills as I led and organised the news team at Fire. Other daily tasks included setting up phone and face-to-face interviews with local and national individuals.
