Commercial Insurance Broker - I am responsible for an existing portfolio of clients for a wide range of businesses but in particular I specialise in the Property and Construction Sectors. My role requires me to have strong negotiation skills with insurers to negotiate the best terms available for my clients, and to ensure that all policies are arranged to meet my client's needs. A key part of my role involves attending client's premises to review the security, fire precautions and health & safety practices so that we can present the information to insurers and negotiate the best available terms. Account Handler - I was responsible for handling insurance renewals and policy adjustments for corporate clients. This role also allowed me to negotiate renewal terms with insurers and to provide support to client Account Executives.A key part of the role involved ensuring that the Account Executive, had correct information to present to the client, preparing commercial reports and to ensure policy cover was arranged as requested.Internal Strategy Meetings were held to review a client's cover prior to a meeting. This involved discussing the current cover provided, any potential ways that it could be enhanced and areas where it was felt that a client would be vulnerable to risk.

Underwriting Assistant - I was responsible for preparing renewal terms for corporate clients, and also for calculating quotations and terms for new clients. This gave me a good grounding and understanding of the exposures that businesses face. This was my first experience within the insurance sector, and I gained strong knowledge of all the covers available to businesses, how the premiums were rated and the higher risk exposures that may have warranted additional terms. This knowledge now enables me to advise clients on how they can manage risk within their business to obtain better terms from the market.
