I am an experienced lawyer. I started my legal career at Clyde & Co London, before moving to Madrid in 1995. I was at Clyde & Co London for 6 years starting as a trainee and then 4 years PQE as a a Solicitor. At Clyde & Co I specialized in both wet and dry shipping. In March 2007 I opened, with other partners,a shipping, transport and insurance law firm in Madrid: ROGERS & CO ABOGADOS (www.rogersco.es). We specialize primarily in all areas of shipping, transport, aviation and marine insurance. My career over the last 20 years has focussed on helping clients understand not only Spanish law, but also navigate the very complex nature of Spanish litigation in some of the most challenging and high profile cross border claims in Spanish maritime and aviation history, including acting for ABS on the “PRESTIGE” casualty in November 2002, acting for Odyssey Marine Exploration Inc on their discovery of 500,000 silver coins (the treasure of the BLACK SWAN) and acting for CHAPMAN FREEBORN in relation to the crash of the YAKOLEV 42 in May 2003 tragically killing 62 Spanish soldiers on their way home from a peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan. My ability to approach Spanish law and procedure from within and give context to the legal and cultural differences in play, gives my international clients the comfort they need to move forward in Spain. I can’t make Spanish law or litigation work for every client, but I can ensure that every client fully understands what can or will happen when they come to Spain – that is the guarantee I provide to every client.
