Charlottesville Tomorrow is a local journalism nonprofit with a monthly readership of over 25,000 and a mission to expand civic engagement and foster a vibrant, inclusive, and interdependent community. In this internship I've reported on topics including public education, government, business, public health, and climate change.

As Peer Advising Fellow, I serve as a designated resource for a group of Harvard freshmen, organizing weekly entryway bonding events and meeting with my advisees regularly throughout the year to help them navigate their lives at Harvard.

As a counselor for Room 13—an anonymous, confidential, and non-directive peer-counseling service for Harvard undergraduates—I staff 12-hour overnight shifts, counseling drop-ins and callers at any time of the night. Additionally, I attend an annual week-long training, monthly staff meetings, and weekly training meetings with a licensed practitioner.

As a DJ for WHRB, I curate and co-host a weekly late night radio show, with a focus on promoting small artists. We reach an area populated by four million people.

In 2016, I co-founded Sooth Swarm Journal (www.soothswarmjournal.com) to create a literary magazine I could shape to my own vision. We’ve used this online space to publish writers and artists of many different ages, identities, locations, and backgrounds, providing high school students the chance to have their work showcased alongside MFA-holders and even reach an international audience. Sooth Swarm has received submissions from 26+ US states and 7+ countries, receiving as many as 300 submissions for an issue. My experience running Sooth Swarm includes reviewing submissions for publication; creating and upkeeping the website; designing each issue; and managing the Submittable account, Wix account, email, social media, and finances.

Working as an Academic Residential Assistant at the School of the New York Times, I got valuable teaching experience in various media fields. For four two-week terms, I supported professors in the classroom by organizing materials, leading occasional lessons in poetry and fiction, and offering feedback on student work. The topics I helped teach included creative writing, podcasting, virtual reality, the on-screen personality, and the personal essay. I was responsible for ensuring the safety and positive experience of the high school students in the classroom and on field trips such as capturing virtual reality video in Central Park, conducting interviews around Lincoln Center, and visits to Vice News, Slate Magazine, and MSG News.

I led workshops at the Tupelo Press Teen Writing Center on submitting work for publication as a young writer and on cross-genre work.

As an editor at the Tupelo Press Teen Writing Center, I played an integral role in the annual publication of the Crossroads anthology of local teen writing in partnership with the Virginia Festival of the Book. In my years working on the Crossroads anthology, I served as the Advising Editor (2017-2018), Co-Editor-in-Chief (2016-2017), and Poetry Editor (2015-2016). In each of these roles, I gained experience reviewing submissions using Submittable, organizing and editing the anthology, letterpress printing covers, and hosting readings.

I ran the Tupelo Press Teen Writing Center's Instagram account, making posts aimed to engage young writers in the Charlottesville area and publicize our workshops and the Crossroads anthology.
