In my current role, I advise and consult with leaders and employees, supporting all aspects of Human Resources for 35 corporate, full-time employees, including compensation and benefits, employee relations, training and development, performance management, recruitment and selection, and payroll. I plan and implement initiatives focused on employee engagement, while developing and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation.

Leading the disability management function and overseeing one direct report, I developed and executed health education and promotion initiatives to enhance employee health, well-being, and engagement for 20 offices across Canada. I managed workplace injuries, short- and long-term disability cases, and leaves of absence and accommodations including conducting research and analysis, providing recommendations and solutions, and implementing return-to-work plans and workplace accommodations. I promoted health and wellness programs and coordinated communications to staff. Additionally, I oversaw the Occupational Health and Safety Committees nationally.

With this company, I managed short- and long-term disability claims, as well as WSIB claims including reviewing reports, investigating root causes, implementing corrective preventative actions, and coordinating modified work assignments and return to work plans. I assembled monthly analysis report focused on health, safety, and wellness metrics, and presented information to the Leadership Team. I also oversaw Health and Safety initiatives (including policy and procedure compliance, and the Joint Health and Safety Committee), planned, facilitated, and maintained employee training, and managed Employee Wellness Program initiatives.

In this role, I led global initiatives and executed Global Health Services (GHS) policies and service at four local operating companies across Canada. In collaboration with Senior Leadership, I gained support on funding for global and local initiatives. I monitored program compliance, participation, and employee well-being outcomes, and updated the quarterly scorecard/dashboard for review with senior leadership. To ensure compliance with internal and external legislative requirements, I assessed and audited operating companies and managed budgets. I drove program efficiency and effectiveness, optimizing resource allocation and headed a team of contract wellness professionals. Additionally, I oversaw marketing campaigns, communications, and engagement.

In this position, I built and launched safety programs, created policies and procedures, and coordinated the health and safety activities of Store Managers and safety leaders in 65 retail locations and two distribution centres in Ontario. I conducted site visits and compliance audits, and provided coaching, guidance, and feedback to store management. I designed and facilitated in-class and webinar-based education sessions in the areas of health and safety and wellness. Partnering with the Claims Manager, I managed short- and long-term disability and WSIB claims, including reviewing work-related injuries, work refusals, and Ministry of Labour orders.

With oversight of 50 retail stores, parts and service, and distribution centre locations, I drove health and safety awareness and compliance. I managed two direct reports and 48 indirect reports in Alberta and British Columbia. I planned and implemented wellness and fitness events, fairs and challenges. To improve underperforming locations, I elicited, analyzed, and communicated monthly health and safety metrics, and created action plans. In collaboration with HR, I managed return to work and modified duties. I also facilitated regular communication with Store Managers, JHSC members, and unit Health and Safety Coordinators, and devised health and safety communication and marketing materials to increase awareness and ensure compliance.

Managed corporate head office H&S compliance, certification as well as the audit of Health & Safety programs and documents as per WSPS, WSIB/WCB and corporate health and safety standards including research and statistical documentation of H&S metrics (national injury specific and other metrics), workplace inspections and injury investigations.Assisted Human Resources in developing early and safe return to work programs for workers via the use of vocational assessment tools and techniques with the goal decreasing lost days and having workers safely return to work with modified duty tasks.Developed various training programs; worked with HR to develop and lead new hire training.
