At the heart of my philosophy of music therapy is the belief that everyone deserves to live a full and meaningful life – to move “out of silence, into song.” Music therapy is one of the most transformative means by which a person can process and rewrite their life story. I seek to have a sincere and meaningful therapeutic relationship with each of my clients, which leads to increased trust and willingness to resolve issues that keep them from realizing their full potential for wellness. My clients come to realize that that they are not a culmination of their negative life experiences, but rather are in an active process of becoming who they are truly meant to be.As the name implies, music is an integral part of the therapeutic experience and is focused on reaching practical skills-based, individualized goals. Unlike other talk-based therapies, music therapy can “open the door” and help engage a large spectrum of clients to treatment, regardless of their physical, mental, emotional, or cognitive ability.Music therapy is a process-oriented approach to wellbeing, where I am privileged to walk alongside my patients in their unique journey of recovery. Music has the distinctive ability to cut past the façade of the conscious mind and straight into the deep, unconscious psyche where the heart and mind of an individual intersect to form an integrated, balanced, and whole person.
