As an intern in Ninety One's Global Quality Capability Team, I participated in investment meetings 3x/week to discuss industry/earnings updates and stocks for portfolio consideration. I conducted industry, company, and proprietary research and built a financial model for my assigned stock. I also wrote a full investment report, created a corresponding pitch deck, and presented my investment case to the investment committee for my assigned stock at the end of the internship. Along the way, I was able to gain a firm understanding of various investment philosophies and characteristics of strong investment theses.

During Summer 2020, I joined a cohort of ~150 sophomore women from across 60 different universities to participate in the Girls Who Invest Summer Intensive Program. For the first 4 weeks of the program, I learned core finance and investment concepts from renowned Wharton business professors, developed integral technical and soft skills, culminating in the successful completion of a capstone valuation project, and interacted with leading investment professionals through industry panels to gain broader perspective on the different asset classes and overall investment management industry.For the following 6 weeks of the program, I completed an internship with mid-tier global asset manager, Ninety One, doing equity research.

I had the opportunity to shadow internal/external auditors, portfolio managers, and investment analysts focusing on Latin American markets to gain a depth of knowledge about the different sectors of investment management. Additionally, I conducted info-sharing sessions in various departments (Asset Allocation, Investment Risk, Fixed Income, Portfolio Management, Market Analysis, SOX Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, Financial Service Center, and External Audit done by EY) to develop a broader sense of the roles within an investment management firm.
