Additional to my research associate role with SMASS at the University of Glasgow, I am undertaking my own PhD research working on the development of analytical methods to reduce the uncertainties associated with the strandings process, aiming to improve and facilitate the use of strandings data for surveillance of marine mammal populations. Within this I am working with/on the development of a mobile phone app called Beachtrack (which captures survey effort for strandings data), and additionally I am studying the ovaries of harbour porpoise for detailed insight into life history and reproductive parameters for population level inferences relating to fertility and reproductive health.

Taking care of stranded cetacean species, primarily harbour porpoises, and leading a diverse team of volunteers at the SOS Dolphin research and rehabilitation centre, the Netherlands

Research Assistant of Julian Tyne (PhD) in the Spinner Dolphin Acoustics, Population Parameters, and Human Impacts research of Murdoch Universities Cetaceans Research Unit in Collaboration with Duke University. Assisting with data collection through boat based focal follows, deployment of (passive) acoustic loggers, and land based theodolite tracking. Processing photo-ID images + acoustic files.

Bachelor thesis project in collaboration with the harbour porpoise pathology project of Utrecht University, department of pathobiology. The project consisted of an extensive statistical analysis, in order to identify relations between parasites and biological parameters (age, gender, body condition), seasonality, and mortality factors of harbour porpoises.

Research Assistant in project on residency patterns and baseline abundance of Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops aduncus)Within this research I carried out my own project exploring changes in dolphin abundance in relation to the construction phase of recent offshore marine works and a coastal development project.

For my second year internship I worked in the Sea Turtle Conservation Programme of St Eustatius National Parks Foundation (STENAPA). Main activities included beach monitoring (during the day and at night), data recording, beach preparation and volunteer training. Additional activities I carried out for the National Marine Park included assistance with reef- and fish surveys as well as maintanance activities while SCUBA diving.
