About Mariela Jimenez

Since I could remember, I have always wanted to pursue medicine and helping others. As a senior in high school, I made the decision to follow my dreams of becoming a registered nurse. Before being a graduated senior, I enrolled in an EMT certification at Urgent Response Training Institute. During the course, I did my ride alongs with MDFR as well as clinical rotations in the ER at Kendall Regional Hospital. I immediately fell even more in love with the idea of saving someone's life. While completing my BSN at West Coast University, I was working part time as a medical scribe for a primary care physician of MDS of South Florida, where I strengthen my medical terminology and learned the electronic health record software, ECW. I continued to grow at the medical facility and learned ICD-10 codes and CPT codes along with strengthening my pharmaceutical knowledge. Through out the COVID-19 pandemic, I also pursued being a medical scribe for SCRIVAS which works in partnership with Baptist Urgent Cares. There, I was able to collaborate with different physicians and mid-level providers by completing clinical notes using the electronic health record software, Cerner. Since then, I am currently in my last semester of nursing school. I have completed my BLS/ CPR, ACLS and PALS certifications. This fall, I will be graduating Cum Laude at West Coast University and as a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society.
