M. (Maryellen) Ariel Evans is the CEO of Evans Resource Group, a leading cyber risk management consulting company. She has over two decades of senior executive experience leading governance, legal, cyber, compliance, risk, and internal audit teams. She is a senior cybersecurity and governance expert, and serial entrepreneur. She is the author of "Managing Cyber Risk" to be published and available in the fall of 2018 by Oxford Press and is also is the Executive Cyber Security Chairperson at Rutgers University managing their executive cybersecurity program and a guest lecturer in entrepreneurship at Hebrew University, Tel Aviv University and University of Bologna. After moving to Israel in 2014, she created and sold an Israeli Cyber Security value-added distribution company. Additionally, she was the Acting CISO for a Telco subsidiary in the U.S. and the primary author of the PCI e-commerce guideline issued in January of 2013 and a consultant on cyber risk to Fortune 1000 companies on Wall Street. I have spun and sold several companies in technology and services over the past two decades. In 2000 I started Nitorum ™ Corp., a B2B human capital management corporation & was CTO working with Merrill Lynch to commercialize a web-based vendor management application. On 11/29/00 Computer World named Nitorum ™ Corporation to its Top 100 Emerging Companies in 2001, & Nitorum ™ Corporation was awarded the EC Implementation User Award by Electronic Commerce World Magazine in January of 2001. In 2003, Nitorum was sold to eLance.com. In 2003, I started Reconda International, as the Chief Operating Officer. Reconda was a software company focused on web-based interconnectivity development. In 2006 Reconda was sold privately sold & their products are now part of the BMC line. I currently own a SOA security product company that is in the process of being sold.

I am a thought leader and management consultant with an interest in data security and compliance. I have spent 5 years doing Research and Development investigations of data security vulnerabilities with service oriented architecture (SOA) frameworks that use Message Queues (MQ) and Enterprise Service Buses (ESB). I reverse engineered SOA COTS products for vulnerability research and exploit testing. This work was used to design processes and algorithms to test SOA for confidentiality and integrity of data. My results are being published in IEEE in conjunction with the University of WA outlining the urgent security issues with critical infrastructures that use SOA globally. I designed and developed a methodology and tool to automatically test data security of SOA configurations for security and vulnerability management. This work is patent pending. I took the managed service assessment I designed for R&D and productized it into a automated SIEM tool called MQSentry. I integrated MQSentry with IBM's QRadar SIEM tool. As part of my evangelism of SOA security issues I worked with the PCI Security Council and I am the primary author of the PCI Security Council's e-commerce guidelines issued in January of 2013. In the meantime, I have in-depth knowledge of perimeter security and have worked as a security project manager for F500 companies leading PCI, SOX, HIPAA and other compliance related initiatives. I have a good working knowledge of networking and internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, FTP) as well as SQL and Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence expertise.

The McGraw Hill Companies CEO Terry McGraw required an enterprise planning, portfolio and project view to provide metrics for Standard & Poors, McGraw Hill Education and Information & Media (formerly Business Week). ERG provided services to deliver required integration modules of project, portfolio and asset management within a one year time frame allowing an ROI of over 300%.

Reconda was a development and monitoring product for IBM MQSeries. I was the co-founder and COO. It raised $6.96M. It was founded in 2001 and sold in 2005.

Implemented performance management and sales metric software. General oversight of the production, maintenance and corporate governance relating to product delivery. Budget responsibility of $120MPre IPO Due Diligence and fund raising responsibities. Review of staff, performance and head count. Ensure proper customer service and maintain open lines of communication between sales and business development. Responsible for the IT procurement process from order to delivery. Review infrastructure for general performance and implement any improvements as necessary. Responsible for IT facilities maintenance. Review of financial reports as they pretained to sales, marketing and IT. SAP and Oracle Financials expert. Present formal reports monthly to Board of Directors.

Strategic responsibilities included direct report to board of directors, management of a staff of 125+ and budget accountabilityfor$10m. I was responsible for product development and commercialization. I hired staff of 125 developers, business analysts, network, professional services, and testers and oversaw design, development and testing of the product. I developed and negotiated alliances with vendors and partners and did project planning and execution including design, develop, testing and implementation at customer sites. I was responsible for technical due diligence pre-IPO and the sale to elance.com.

Management and IT Consultant for an e-procurement solution for a major brokerage firm. Developed strategic vendor management program that saved Merrill Lynch $7M a year by automating human capital management. Responsible for gap analysis of vendor procurement processes, and developed of an automated application that integrated with Oracle Financials, Accounting, General Ledger and PeopleSoft HRMS. Integrated the application with Ariba, and Oracle SSP. Strategic responsibilities included direct report to SVP of Procurement at Merrill Lynch, management of a staff of 75+ and budget accountability.  Tactical duties within the full system life cycle development included JAD sessions with Merrill Lynch staff, business and functional requirements, workflow, testing, change management, quality assurance and implementation.Trained several hundred US and EMEA team members on how to use the product. Later commercialized the product and sold it to elance.com.
