Conducted research on the Cuban people's overall response to Cuba's involvement in Angola during the Angolan Civil War (1975 - 1989). In searching for an answer, I interviewed more than 25 Cubans who went to Angola as internationalists, read autobiographical books and articles written by Cubans who also went, and visited Havana in March 2016 to further study what Cuban-Angolan solidarity meant for the people then and now. Part of my research included a visit to the U.S. Department of State, where I met with two department officials to discuss my research findings and current U.S.-Cuban relations.
