Profile bio

About Marie Odejar

I currently work full-time in a sub-acute and long term setting as a travelling Speech Language Pathologist, and I've had extensive experiences in skilled nursing facilities and accompanying outpatient services. I have had a variety of experiences as a graduate student clinician ranging from a public school setting to a behavioral healthcare Day school setting to an in-patient acute rehabilitation facility. I am well versed on cognitive-linguistic therapy of varying ages and have been exposed to patient populations diagnosed with Aphasia, Apraxia, Dysphagia, Dysarthria, other cognitive-linguistic difficulties and vocal pathologies. I also have experience treating patients with diagnosed psychological, emotional, and behavioral difficulties such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Obesessive-Compulsive Disorder, Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (of varying types), Tourette's Syndrome, Anxiety Disorder, Mood Disorder- NOS, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Aside from my clinical skill set, I also have research experience, with my most recent study being a research collaboration between Seton Hall University and the University of Manila in the Philippines on bilingual language development. I have presented my research at large conferences such as at the ASHA Convention, NJSHA Conference, & the 35th Annual Bilingual ESL Conference at William Paterson University. I also have an extensive background of leadership positions, which fuels my passion to hone my clinical skill set to provide the highest quality of care for my patients and allows me to connect with my patients and colleagues on a deeper level. One of my future goals is to improve cognitive-linguistic skills in both pediatric and geriatric populations through research and implementation of more functional therapy tasks to effectively generalize treatment to my clients' natural environments. I am also striving to promote bilingual education and multi-sensory literacy approaches.

Listed skills include Speech Therapy, Documentation, Aphasia, Cognition, and 10 others.
