• Acquire manuscripts in short fiction and poetry, regional history and regional interest, queer studies, film and media studies, and fairy-tale studies• Take prospective projects through the peer-review process, oversee revision and present evaluated manuscripts to the University Press Editorial Board for approval to publish• Develop preliminary financial estimates and profit/loss statements, negotiate contracts with authors, and prepare the final manuscripts for launch to editing and production• Determine and oversee the direction of half of the publishing program, including creating and shaping subject areas, book series and imprints in consultation with the Director, Press staff, series editors, and others• Train and mentor editors, assistants, and interns as needed• Work closely with the marketing manager to plan for successful promotion and sales of new books• Represent the Press and actively acquire at 3-5 annual conferences, exhibits, and functions
