I have been working as a school counselor for the last 17 years, which is how long I have been advocating for students and supporting them through various individual and group activities with students, teachers, and parents. In my work, I am doing my best to be the bridge between students and teachers in a student-centered way. In counseling, I use reality therapy and therapeutic play skills. Six years of my 17 years of school counseling were in international schools. I am a Master of Social Pedagogy and a certified Reality Therapy Psychotherapist-PRT (with a European Certificate for Psychotherapy, EAP). My interest in reality therapy was so deep that I became a Reality Therapy teacher and supervisor- PRT-S- and a member of the European Institute for Reality Therapy Faculty Board. I was a team member of the Croatian Association for Reality Therapy developing the Model – Quality School Education, a training program for teachers based on Choice Theory, and William Glasser Quality School. In addition, I am a Play Therapy Practitioner with Certificates in Foundation of Play Therapy, Advanced Theory, and Techniques in Play Therapy, Treatment of Trauma using Play Therapy Skills and Techniques, and Sandplay with special populations using Play Therapy Skills and Techniques (all from Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute, Calgary, Alberta, Canada). In Croatia, I collaborated with the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences as a student mentor of the study program Social Pedagogy in the course Practical Work for six years. One year, I collaborated with the Faculty of Teacher Education as a student mentor on the course Early Socio-Pedagogical Interventions. I have been the Head of The County Expert Council for Prevention Programs in Elementary Schools in Zagreb, Croatia, for seven years. I was a member of the national expert working group (Croatia) on the education and evaluation of children with special educational needs (my area of expertise was children with behavioral disorders). I co-authored the book Socio-pedagogical Mosaic: Developing a support model for students with behavioral disorders.
