Mariko Powers is a Program Officer at Oceankind, a philanthropic initiative that seeks to address the growing threats facing our oceans. Mariko oversees grantmaking related to marine conservation, which includes support for policies and organizations that promote fisheries sustainability, marine habitat protections, and the conservation of coastal and blue carbon ecosystems. She obtained her MA in International Environmental Policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) and graduated from Occidental College with a BA in Diplomacy and World Affairs. She is passionate about promoting sustainable development, community-led conservation, and climate / environmental justice from the grassroots to global scales.
