🧠 ✨ YOUR BRAIN IS MAGICAL...As a medical speech-language pathologist since 1987, Marilyn has always known the brain was complicated. Still, her fascination for "all things brain" didn’t start until a few years later when she began to look more closely. In 2016, Marilyn's need to spread the word about brain health became so great that she created a community-wide brain health and education program at CentraState Medical Center, where she had worked since 2004. The program was based on teaching people the importance of a brain-healthy lifestyle, lifelong learning, and using strategies and techniques for better attention, memory, and processing speed. Marilyn's philosophy became, “If your brain has changed, you need to use it differently.” And, with that, “decline” became “change”… because the word “change” implies that we have the power to improve it just by doing things differently. When the pandemic happened, lifestyles changed. People stayed home. They stopped socializing, they even stopped learning… and their brains “changed”, although it looked and felt suspiciously like “decline”. This happens when people don’t get their daily dose of socialization, intellectual stimulation, and even laughter. Marilyn is still seeing this – up close.Online brain health coaching is what Marilyn does every day. It's not a job... it's what she does for fun.
