I am delighted to join the BSO team at Baycrest in the role of Geriatric Addiction Specialist for Long Term Care Homes in the TCLHIN. So honored to be with an organization which has such a stellar reputation of innovation in the care of older adults for over 100 years. I will continue to be involved as the provincial lead for the Older Adult Substance Use Collaborative through BrainXChange and BSO, Co Investigator with the Canadian Coalition for Seniors Mental Health National Best Practice guidelines and co chair for the Alcohol working group. Looking forward to the launch of the four guidelines in the coming weeks.

I am excited to announce our recent collaboration with Canadian Coalition for Seniors Mental Health our approval for a grant to establish National Best Practice Guidelines for Geriatric Addictions. We will establish four best practice guidelines for the prevention assessment and treatment of Substance Use disorders in the geriatric Population. The guidelines will cover alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines and cannabis.

I am now the geriatric addictions consultant with the Community Responsive Behavioral Support team. Consulting throughout the WWLHIN on complex geriatric addiction issues.

Primary Care Outreach COPA program duties included screening assessment intensive case management and treatment of older adults with Substance Use disorders. In my many roles at COPA as a clinician, coordinator, manager, researcher and educator we have paved the path for best practises for geriatric addictions as one of Canada's first addiction treatment programs for older adults. It has been a privilege to be considered a pioneer in this field along with Dr Sarah Saunders and Dr Kathryn Graham.

Thank you to the Canadian Coalition for Seniors Mental Health and the Canadian Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry for recognizing me with the Inaugural award for Seniors Mental Health Outstanding Care and Integrative Practice Award at the joint CAGP/CCSMH 2018 meeting. I am honored to be the inaugural recipient and to be part of the development of the national best practice guidelines for Substance Use Disorders in Older Adults. Thank you to Dr David Conn, Dr Kiran Raberu and Dr Dallis Sykes for your confidence in me. I look forward to the release in the coming months.

I have been invited to the CMHAWWD Specialized Geriatric Services to develop capacity in the system for Geriatric Addictions. I am delighted to be here. to work with such an enthusiastic team.My secondment has been extended for a second time. I am delighted and honored to be asked to stay on for another year. I am also honored to be nominated for the SAGE (Service Awards for Geriatric Excellence) in the Executive Leadership Category. We are moving ahead with our efforts to improve capacity in Geriatric Addictions to the Waterloo Wellington LIHN. Thank you to the Waterloo Wellington Geriatric Services network for your vote of confidence.This year has been an exceptional year for my work in the Waterloo Wellington LHIN. Our Geriatric Addictions Steering Committee was nominated for the Service Awards for Geriatric Excellence in the Team Category. It is a privilege to be working with such a diverse and collaborative group to improve our response to older adults with substance use disorders. Jane McKinnon Wilson Cathy Sturdy Smith and I have been selected by Behavioral Supports Ontario to act as the provincial Leads for an accelerated BSO collaborative for Substance use and Older Adults.
