Marilyn Lennon is an artist and educator. Her doctoral research at the Interaction Design Centre with Prof Liam L. Bannon, University of Limerick, examined the contribution artists make in interdisciplinary and participatory projects with a focus on 'Reflective Prototyping'. More recently in 2021 she completed the CPD course, Commissioning and Curating Contemporary Public Art, at Valand Academy, University of Gothenburg.Marilyn's artistic enquiry is focussed on the social production of space/place as sites of resistance, publicness and the co-creation of new critical spatial practices. Long-term art projects include; 2021 - ongoing- KinShip, led by artist’s LennonTaylor (Marilyn Lennon and Sean Taylor) in partnership with Cork City Council. Local partners include Cork Healthy Cities, Cork Nature Network, Green Spaces for Health, MTU Clean Technology Centre, UCC Environmental Research Institute.One of the inaugural fifteen climate action projects in Ireland funded by the Creative Climate Action fund through Creative Ireland.2020 - ongoing PLoT: Peoples Land Trust, currently funded by the Arts Council of Ireland, which reimagines future sustainability and urban land use. The project brings together a radical school and the Community Land Trust model in a co-creative social art project. As a research officer at the Interaction Design Centre she managed and consulted on a number interdisciplinary Interaction Design research projects. She has designed and delivered level 9 modules in Interaction Design for Public Spaces (University of Limerick) Situated Design Research at Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) LIT. She also designed and co-delivered a Masters programme, MA Social Practice and the Creative Environment (MA SPACE) at LSAD 2010-2021. Currently she lectures at Crawford College of Art and Design, Munster Technical University, Cork.She has been postgraduate advisor/artist at a number of international events including, the European Academy of Participation Pilot, London '17, Split Interactions, Croatia '08, the Convivio International Summer Schools, Romania and Sweden '05 and '07 and The Siena Design Project, (Interaction Design in Public Spaces) Italy, '03 and 04. Collaborative projects in Sweden '07 and Croatia '08 with artists, designers, and postgraduates was represented at the Zagrebacki Salon '09.
