About Marilynn Rothstein
I am a passionate member of what I refer to as the “global Jewish nation” and promote the concept of a "union of all Jews" whenever possible. My volunteer and lay leader work began in 1972, one year after I married my husband, Earl, as a member of a B’nai B’rith couples group, where we participated in many local community service projects. Since then I have held leadership positions in two synagogues, including being temple president and chair of a major capital campaign. I sat on the North American Board of the Union for Reform Judaism for 10 years. I served as a URJ Community leader and a facilitator of congregational leadership retreats. When I was a member of Jewish Funders Network (JFN), I co-orchestrated an initiative to significantly increase our younger generation's connection to Israel and the Jewish people by having philanthropists and foundations focus on, encourage, and support meaningful pre-college peer experiences in Israel. For almost 6 years I was the Director of Alumni Engagement & Special Projects for the Alexander Muss High School in Israel (AMHSI) which is now part of the Jewish National Fund (JNF). Prior to that, I had a successful 25 year career in the telecommunications industry.What's next for me? Although I am thoroughly enjoying retirement, I am always interested in short-term opportunities where I can utilize my skills helping organizations realize their missions.

I was the president of the congregation in 2001 and 2002 and then I chaired the Capital Campaign and Renovation of our sanctuary building. Although I am still a member, I now live in Birmingham, AL where I have become somewhat active in Temple Emanu-El.
