About Ruth Skinner

For over 25 years I have worked in various teaching, student success and coordinating positions in post-secondary education. From 2006 onwards, I have work as an Entry Advisor at George Brown College in Toronto. I assist diverse populations of prospective and current students in navigating the many layers of post-secondary education. Along with being an Entry Advisor, I am a documentary photographer. I have a Bachelor and Master of Fine Art in the areas of research and documentary photography. My fine art background has provided me with strong empathy, research, and communication skills, especially when assisting clients who come from creative backgrounds. I also assist clients with transitioning into creative fields through academic and career advising. Recently, I completed the Career Development Practitioner post-graduate program at George Brown College. This unique program has provided me with a formal education in the areas of career advising, work search, self-assessment tools, human rights, and career research technology. I am comfortable with individual and group advising via in person, virtual, email and phone sessions.
