I have always been deeply engaged in education and community advocacy. As a child, I attended educational meetings with my mother, a foreign language educator, and developed a passion for cultural understanding through travels to Mexico, Martinique, Canada, Spain, France, and England before the age of 18.As a teenager, I became Vice President of the Ohio Youth Chapter of the NAACP, solidifying my early commitment to leadership and advocacy. At Hampton University, where I majored in Psychology, I was active in cultural programs and performed in productions like Amen Corner and A Raisin in the Sun.My professional journey began at the Apollo Theater as a talent coordinator for It’s Showtime at the Apollo, working with stars like Mary J. Blige, Destiny’s Child, Nelly, and Boys II Men. However, between productions, I faced personal tragedy, losing several close friends to gang and gun violence. Determined to inspire change, I produced PEACE TV, a show cultivating young leaders, and partnered with the LeBron James Family Foundation to empower youth.Through AmeriCorps VISTA, I advocated for homeless youth, meeting with congressional leaders to advance systemic solutions. For this work, I received the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Building Award from Governor Taft. Later, as a recruiter for Girl Scouts of the USA, I helped empower over 2,000 young girls through innovative programs. My work on President Obama’s campaign involved establishing a battleground office in Ohio, where I had the honor of meeting Michelle Obama. I hold a Master’s degree in Public Administration, which has enhanced my ability to serve communities and drive systemic change. As a member of the Office of the Mayor and Department of Small Business Services, I helped restore hundreds of businesses, create over 5,000 jobs, and contribute to $1 billion in development across New York City. I continue to assist businesses through strategic development and funding support, including helping a nonprofit secure $300,000 in federal funding to support local enterprises. As a mother of three daughters, my “Harlem girls,” I am deeply committed to ensuring a brighter future for them. On Manhattan Community Board 10, I’ve organized events such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations, educational fairs, and initiatives addressing women’s equality and domestic violence. My life’s work reflects my dedication to empowering communities, fostering economic development, and advocating for social justice. Of all my accomplishments, my greatest joy is being a mother, raising future leaders.
