Dr Marina Bock is a Structural Engineer that holds a Civil Engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC BarcelonaTech). Her PhD research focused on developing suitable design methods for cold-formed stainless steel structures which She achieved through experimental testing and numerical modelling within the framework of a European funded project carried out by a consortium of Universities, Research Centres and Industrial partners. Her PhD findings have directly contributed to the development of the European Codes for stainless steel structures (i.e. EN 1993-1-4). Upon finishing her PhD at UPC Barcelona Tech, Dr Marina Bock moved to the UK and worked for the construction industry undertaking inspections, assessments, designs of structures and leading industrial research projects.She currently works for the University of Wolverhampton delivering lectures on structural analysis and design whilst carrying out research in the area of metallic structures. She has secured funding to carry out research into expanding the applicability of structural aluminium which is a project currently underway.She has co authored more than 20 scientific publications in peer reviewed research journals and conferences.Dr Marina Bock is also the Civil Engineering outreach champion engaging in activities that aim to link industry and academia.She is also a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
