About Marina Castillo Tomás
My two passions in life are singing & teaching, and I consider myself very lucky that I can do both in my professional life:)As a singer I mostly studied the classical technique, but I've always sung rock, jazz & gospel, because my dad did at home (he is a musician too), so I've been influenced from a very early age with modern music & Improvisation; in fact, I find improvisation essential for anyone dedicated to interpret any kind of music or to teach: planning is indispensable, but it is also necessary to be able to improvise on the fly!As a teacher, I base my job on the Multiple Intelligences Theory, trying to give a Challenge based learning . I see the education as something global and sistemic, so I try to be as trasversal as possible, while doing my duty. I also use gamification and flipped classroom techniques and I am part of a research university group where we work on music as a competencial subject, that can be a focal project for a whole learning community.I also take private students for one on one vocal coaching: I try to work on technique, giving them a repertoire that allows them to highlight their strong points & work on their weak spots. I work with both classical and modern singers.During my school holidays, I spend my time coaching and guiding campers at ROCKCAMP ESPAÑA. We act as coaches for the students and I love it!Well, this is a typical year in my professional life. As you can see, it is not simply a job for me: is purely vocational. Thanks for your attention.
