I grew up in a small agricultural town in Argentina, where the VHS rental store and the arcade were the main (and pretty much only) entertainment options. You could say that these were my nerdy beginnings.Little did I know how important those nerdy moments would be to supercharge my future career.Following in my mother’s footsteps, I trained as a linguist, graduated with a degree in translation, and obtained the American Translators Association certification. I then gained the best education I could ask for: working alongside my mother at Terra Translations, the business she had built from the ground up.As a new translator, I handled a wide variety of content that went from how to operate an industrial dishwashing machine to how to cook French food. But I didn’t find real inspiration in this work until I stumbled upon video game localization.Finding a golden opportunity in that field was one of those serendipitous, life-changing moments. As a life-long video game enthusiast, translating and adapting video games into different languages was a perfect fit.During my almost two-decade career, I have worked in different positions, including project management and quality control. I have pursued a postgraduate degree in video game localization and received executive training in business management. Along the way, I’ve been humbled at so many moments, especially receiving the Wisconsin Rising Star Award and the Enterprising Women of the Year Award.I’m passionate about gaming and about translation, and I’m a strong believer in giving back. Through organizations such as Women in Localization, Women in Games, and the American Translators Association, I volunteer in their initiatives and programs. I also host a podcast featuring interviews with over 200 experts!I currently serve as CEO of Terra Translations and Terra Localizations (our gaming division) now based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
