The world is facing huge challenges including climate change, agricultural intensification, pollution and biodiversity loss. Government departments and charities barely make a dent in the problem. It’s time more people stepped up and did something about it. I know this is easier said than done. I have met hundreds of people who would like to do green work but haven’t been able to find a job so have given up and now confine their green work to volunteering on projects.We have to find more ways that more people can get involved and this is what I do. Worked on influencing government policy to mitigate the impact on the environment - everything from planning white papers to renewable energy projects; developed and interpreted policy for the general public; campaigned on high profile projects with loads of media coverage, lobbied MPs and civil servants; and managed highly professional land use planning professionals and volunteers.

Managed a massive team of 16 outpost staff with an overall span of control of over 500 staff (including volunteers); worked on volunteer engagement to support the ambitions of volunteers; raised funds to enable the delivery of projects up to a value of £500k (including full cost recovery); carried out practical, hands-on conservation activities to improve local communities.

Developed a parks strategy for the Hounslow; supported the organisation through the Investors in People award by training staff on what the award meant and how we were meeting their criteria.
